'The Cotton Gin Revolutionized The Industry of the United States"
This device removed the cotton fibers away from the cotton seed. The demand for cotton was very high. With the invention of the cotton gin, many things could be produced faster and cheaper. "After the invention of the cotton gin, the yield of raw cotton doubled each decade after 1800.More recently devices for removing trash, drying, moisturizing, fractioning fiber, sorting, cleaning, and baling in 218-kg (480-lb) bundles have been added to modern cotton gins." This invention had a great impact on farmers,women,children and also the need for slaves.
The Cottage Industry
The Cotton Gin quickly removed seeds from cotton. This was needed for the textile Industry. Before the Industrial Revolution people lived in the Cottage Industry. The cottage industry was an industry that consists of family members or individuals working from home to produce goods manually.
Before the Cotton Gin was invented, slaves had to separate the parts of cotton linen from the seeds of the cotton
plant by hand. It was a very tedieous job and took many slaves and an enormeous amount of time to complete this
task. With the invention of Whitney's Cotton Gin this all could now change.
